Chapter 34: All In

I walk into the school building with Bren, and we pass by the dance team audition poster.  

“Crap! With everything going on, I forgot to even check to see if I made the team.” I stop in front of the poster and stare at it wistfully.  “Well, if I didn’t hear anything yesterday, I’m sure I know my answer.”

Bren reaches out and rubs my arm sympathetically, “I’m sorry, Divina. I know how much you love dancing.”

“True, but I knew it was a long shot. Anyway, let’s go.” I link my arm through Bren’s and we head to our lockers.

There’s a girl I haven’t met before leaning against my locker and when she sees me, she straightens up, and motions me to follow her. She quickly ducks into the classroom next to my locker and I follow her cautiously.  

I try and fail miserably to not remember the things that Warrick did to me and how he made me feel in this very classroom. I squeeze my legs together trying to extinguish the f
