Emery
I excitedly went down to the playground after lunch had finished. It was still a little early, so I was the first one there. I sat on one of the swings and enjoyed the sweet and cool breeze.
“Hi!” I heard a voice say beside me. “Emery, right?” She asked.
I looked back and saw a tall, curly-haired girl. Her dark skin shone in the sun.
“Yeah, hi!” I greeted back. “Are you Desiree?” I asked.
“That’s me,” She responded, sitting on one of the swings next to me.
She looked at me momentarily, and I got shy. “Is there something on my face?” I asked.
“No! Sorry, was I staring?” She laughed embarrassedly. “It’s just that Dalton and Dante were right. You really are pretty.”I blushed. “You’re prettier.”
She laughed. “Thanks, that really means a lot. Especially coming from you.”
We fell in a comfortable silence as we swung back and forth. I wanted to become closer to her, so I initiated a conversation
EmeryI looked at her in shock. What was she planning now?Kairo rushed over to where we were and looked at us with glaring eyes. He gazed at me and fiercely asked, “What the fuck did you do?"Amelia interrupted me before I could speak, “Emery pushed this kid off the slide! I saw it with my own two eyes.” She said in a panicked voice.“No, that didn’t happen! We were just playing and went over to the slide but then—”“Oh my god. Blood! Kairo, there’s blood. The child’s head is bleeding.” Amelia was looking at Kairo while frantically trying to get away from the blood.“Lyle!” I exclaimed. I kneeled down in front of him in hopes of helping him, but a strong force suddenly pushed me away from the scene. It was Kairo. I was thrown to the ground, and my palms hit the rough gravel bed. I saw blood ooze out from my palm
EmeryTwo days have passed, and it’s a great relief that Lyle is now okay. I watched over him for the past two days, so I haven’t had the chance to explain myself to Kairo yet. However, I still want to make this right.I was sitting near the living room window when Desiree poked my arm, “Hey, how are you?”“I’m okay,” I responded with a smile, even if it didn’t reach my eyes.“I heard that Lyle’s better now,” She said while rubbing my arm. I felt comforted.“Yeah, I visited him for the past two days, and he seems to be fully recovered now. It’s a good thing that his parents listened to me and understood the whole situation.”“But you didn’t even do anything wrong! You don’t have to explain yourself.” She said, shaking my arm. “I know! What if we get Lyle to talk to the Alpha? Surely Alpha Kairo would forgive you if the v
EmeryI kept to myself for the whole day, but that isn’t really possible anymore since tonight’s the inauguration ceremony of Dalton and Dante, and everyone is required to attend. I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were still a little bit swollen from yesterday night’s episode, so I splashed my face with cold water to calm them down.I was already late for the ceremony because I slept in the afternoon— a result of my lack of sleep from yesterday night. If Desiree didn’t text me to come down because the after-event was still currently ongoing, I probably wouldn’t have attended it at all.I reluctantly went down and saw the three—Dalton, Dante, and Desiree, sitting on one table. They were waving for me to come over to their table. I smiled at them tiredly and quickened my pace to get to them faster.“Congratulations, guys!” I said while sitting down on the chair.“We
MATURE CONTENT AHEADIf you are a minor or if you are not comfortable with this type of content, please skip to Chapter 25.Emery“Hux,” I whined out. My body was heating up even more, but this time it wasn’t because of pain.He growled, and I could feel his labored breaths near my lips, leaving a hot, tingling sensation that made me crave for more.I reached out to him, wanting to get closer to his lips, but he bowed his head down and started sniffing my neck.“Fuck, why did you have to be here tonight?” He asked in a pained voice.I moaned because his lips, paired with his hot breath grazed upon my neck when he was talking. My mind was so jaded that I didn’t even notice that we were already moving. He carried me effortlessly and walked without any reservation.“Wait… Desiree…” I whined out, but he only tightened his hold on me and quickened his
EmeryTwo Lines. Two red lines. Shit. It’s positive. How could this happen so fast? I walked restlessly in the bathroom while looking at the pregnancy test on my hand. Could this be a dream? I slapped myself awake but groaned when I felt the sharp pain. Nope, this is definitely not a dream.I took another test and ripped the packaging open with my hands. I took it once again and waited until the timer was up. Please, let it be a blunder. I held my hands together as I closed my eyes in anxiety. The timer went off once again, and I looked at the test without opening my eyes.Don't worry, it’s just a mistake. I can't be pregnant that fast, right? I can’t bear Kairo’s child when he’s not even talking with me right now. I’ll open my eyes in3...2...1…Two red lines still stared back at me, and I couldn’t help but sigh in defeat. It’s still positive.
Emery“I’m pregnant.”I heard metalware clanging with the ceramic plates, and I looked as everyone looked at Amelia with shock.I thought those exact words would be coming straight from my mouth, but they didn’t. It was from Amelia’s.She looked at us with teary eyes and turned to Kairo. “You’re going to be a father, babe.” She said while making her way to him and hugging his frozen stature. His eyes were blank, and he looked ahead on an empty space.Everyone was still silent. I was expecting to hear a “Congratulations,” but we were met with deafening silence. She moved away from Kairo and started speaking once again.“I know that this may come as a surprise to all of you, and I honestly thought that I could hide it a little bit more. But, I thought it would be best for all of you to know since you’re all Kairo’s dear friends and family.”
EmeryI held the letter that my mom gave me and placed it back in the envelope. I wiped my eyes dry and decided that I didn’t want to waste any more tears. I don’t want to prolong this anymore. I looked around my room with a determined look on my face and fetched a worn-out backpack from the back of my closet. I stuffed as many clothes that I could in the big backpack, making sure that my mom’s clothes were included.I pulled out my phone and typed in the location that was written on the letter.“#1614, Brittia Street, Kvenland Village”It was 16 hours away if I traveled by train. I can make it there tomorrow evening if I move now. I pulled out my piggy bank and the birthday gifts I received from the pack elders. I counted the money. Hmm, this should be enough for a 2-day trip.I stealthily moved out of the house, making sure not to leave any trace. I looked once more at the house that I called home f
KairoIt’s Emery’s birthday today. I don’t exactly know why but her birthday stuck to me when I read it in her records. I was actually the one who reminded my mom, but I didn’t know that she would plan a whole party for the event.I was in the dining room with the other attendants, and we were waiting for Emery to come down. Amelia was beside me, rambling on and on about a topic that I didn’t care about, but I paid her no attention. For some reason, I was feeling nervous. I feel like something’s going to happen today. I just don’t know whether it’d be good or bad.My thoughts were interrupted when I saw a beautiful figure coming inside the room. The noise suddenly became muffled, and all I could see was her. She was wearing an emerald mermaid-cut dress that hugged all of her curves. The color of the dress even matched the color of her eyes, making them pop in the room’s lighting. She was like an ange
