Chapter 118

Alpha Daniel’s POV

I remember that cold startling voice that ran through the woods reminding me of that dreadful night.

The laughter seemed to be coming from behind me this time, not ahead of or beside me as it had been in my nightmare before. The wind howled and I was sure that it hadn’t been an owl. I knew it wasn’t a dog. The smell of pine mixed with rotten fruit made everything seem so alive. I stopped walking and turned around slowly to face what was chasing me in the trees.

There he stood, wearing the same clothes and his unsaved beards, only more sinister-looking. His face looked like a ghoul’s, covered with blackened and rotting scars, and it glowed in the moonlight. Even though I knew what would happen next, it still frightened me because there was no way that I could fight something like him, or rather it. The smile on his lips showed that he was expecting it, even enjoying it. He moved closer towards me, slowly circling me, like a wolf stalking prey.
