In the blink of an eye, I watched as Kyra vanished from sight and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I should have kept a closer eye on her. The minute the battle began, my only objective had been to destroy George. Everything had gotten out of hand and it had been impossible to keep track of her.

From the looks of things, there were way more than two hundred in the army he brought. We had probably only taken out fifty before reinforcements arrived. I hadn’t been fast enough to get to her, but the last thing I expected was for her to vanish. Without even a moment to process everything, I was tackled by a wolf and it had managed to take a chunk of flesh off my shoulder.

Pushing the wolf off, I got on my feet at the same instant it lunged at me. Pulling my fist back, I slammed it into his snout and he fell to the ground. Rage boiled inside me and I felt like I was no longer in control. Straddling the wolf, I bent over to snap its neck and I loo
