Ash and I ran through various scenarios, but nothing felt like it came close to being the answer. I mean, he was good with the ideas, but none sounded like they would work.

He said he had met my father once, a long time ago and that was just it. He didn’t know my father like I did, but the more I thought about it, I wondered how well I actually knew him. Why hadn’t he asked for help if he knew death was coming?

“We won’t know anything until Zane gets back.” Ash tells me as he takes the plates away.

“What if it’s another trap?”

“Do you really think Zane is that stupid?”

“No, I’m just….” I frown as I realise how attached I’ve become to him.

Ash sits back down. “Zane has been in worse situations than this, besides, he has just linked me, he is on his way back.”

“Is Harlow alive?” I mutter. Hopefully Harlow had kept his mouth shut and only told Zane necessary information.
