YAEL OSOS The setting sun lit the final dying sky like the embers of a burning burial pile. I dragged Blue out of everyone’s line of sight and into the shady part of the forest. Ahbaya allowed me to do so, mainly because I promised this would all be over in a few minutes. We seated ourselves in the branches of the trees. Blue was sitting on a slightly lower branch of the tree, but not low enough that he couldn’t hear me. Even from the distance between us, I could hear his shallow breaths, and how much he forced himself to exhale slowly.
