Chapter Twenty-Four: Danger

DEVYN’S POV

A bad feeling churned in my gut, heightening my senses.

Something was amiss.

Instinctively, I scanned the hall for any sign of Gina but there was no sign of her. She hadn’t come out of the restroom since she got in. She didn’t look happy when she saw me— well, she never did— but it had something to do with what Damien told her.

I was doing everything to not barge into the ladies’ restroom and find her myself.

I mind-linked Wilona.

‘Is Gina with you?’

‘No, she isn’t. I thought she was with you.’

I swore under my breath.

‘If she wasn’t with me I wouldn’t have asked. Check the restroom’

‘I’ll check’

I waited impatiently, my hands fidgeting in the pocket of my pants as I tried to keep calm. It wasn’t noticeable but I fidgeted whenever I was anxious, a mannerism I had developed since I was a child.

Everyone in the room went about that business, chattering and drinking as their voices filled the room. Everything about it ticked me off.
