I started to retreat from where I was on the ground when Nikita has already turned her back and vanished from my vision. I tried to control my steps slowly when Prince Ronald shifted his weight and turned around to face me. I swallowed hard, making sure that the lump on my throat would disappear, but it did not, especially when the prince glared at me with his eyes void.

“Why do you look like you just have seen a ghost?” he said and smirked devilishly. “Don’t you think I should be the one that must be shocked that you are here in front of me, alive and breathing so fast after I stabbed you with a dagger?”

Ire rose to my head, pissed off by his sarcasm and insensitiveness. I clenched my fists, being brave and disregarding the fact that he will kill me if I try to do something stupid.

“I trusted you,” I firmly said and inhaled sharply. “I thought you were my friend.”
