The Face of Death

My eyes slowly widened and it was as if the silence has deafened me with very high intensity. The villagers that surrounded me barely touched me, but they are nearing their faces with worried expressions. I could not hear nor focus on them anymore because my eyes are fixated on the face of death – Prince Ronald.

For a while, shockness prevailed over his face. He furrowed his eyebrows firmly and blinked hardly before he exchanged them with a worried one. He moved through the villagers and attended to me.

“My lady! What happened to you?” he asked me with concern and sat in front of me. “Are you okay? Where have you been?”

When he tried to grab me, I abruptly retreated my head and glared at him. Sweats formed on his forehead and the darkness in his eyes just like what I saw him that night emerged.

“Go away from me! Don’t touch me!” I exclaimed and moved away from his hand.

“My lady,” he called me and smiled weakly as if almost innocent. “Come with me. I won’t hurt you.”
