The assassin had disappeared to Goddess knew where. I only scratched my head in confusion. Why would someone attack me, then warn me, then fight and run away?

Was he even fighting or simply pretending to fight? And hadn’t he been too lean for an assassin?

He could have just slinked through the bushes and run away or like a smartass hid behind a boulder or a shrub and observed me even now.

I didn’t know. I could comb through the area but it was not worth the time or effort.

Thus, I turned around and walked towards my car. It was stuck in the bushes so with some effort I pulled it back to the road.

Thankfully, there was no human around or I would have had to do the act of calling a towing service guy and wasting my time when I could move the vehicle myself.

I surveyed the damage and saw that apart from the dent on the side where the attacker had rammed in and a few more dents on the roof when the branches had fallen down, the car was relatively okay.
