I stood by the corner, watching the shifters standing around the front room, looking at the dead warriors laying in the bed.

The silence was so heavy that it was starting to weigh in my shoulders. Their pain and grief was pressing at me, bringing tears to my eyes.

They were all still but I could feel the chaos in them, threatening to swallow them whole.

Beta Silver still stood beside me, holding the bag over his head so the other warrior could get the glucose that he needed.

When Kalven had dragged the two warriors in to the pack hospital, he'd knocked the glucose stand over and the top had broken. So, Monika had asked me to hold the bag up because there was no time to fix the stand.

When Kalven had brought the two warriors, one of them were practically dead. He was barely breathing and his heart was barely pumping.
