JONAS' POV
Whenever Lisa and I would ride in the car and she wouldn't speak to me, I always found it uncomfortable. So I wasn't particularly pleased about riding in a silent car with my cousin's ex-girlfriend as we approached our destination. I left my phone in the garage back at the estate. I'm sure it's been ringing without stopping. I hadn't thought of taking my safety with me, so the only money I had with me was the emergency cash kept in the compartment of every car back at the estate in case of dire situations. It's a very large amount that should last for a long time, so I was fairly okay with it.
Cinderville's buildings were mostly made out of brick. Only a few people were walking down the street as the sun was beginning to rise. There was no standout building that could pass for the headquarters, so I was confused as to where it might be, and Tiffany still kept her mouth shut. I inched the car forward till we cam
JONAS' POVThey all wore different expressions. John wore a small smile on his face as he sank into his seat, smiling. Tiffany's head was bent low. I turned around and the guards wore puzzled looks on their faces like they were trying to come to terms with what I had just said.Abraham's eyes widen before turning angry. "What do you take us for, Blackwater, idiots? You can't come and tell us fairy tales and expect us to believe you. If you came here just to make fun of us, you're going to regret it. ""Why would I risk my life just to come here and lie? I'm not stupid."Abraham stands, glowering down at me. If what you said was true, Tiffany would have told us about it a long time ago.We all turn towards Tiffany, who is sinking deeper into her seat."You know about this, Tiffany? Abraham stares at her with a horrified look on his face. Why didn't you tell us about this? How dare you keep this
Lisa's POVKayden's phone rests on my lap, but instead, I stare at a random spot on the floor. I couldn't bear to watch Jonas' face on the screen. He has switched to the side of the rebels. The video confirms everything.Kayden runs his hands over his hair before he retrieves his phone from my lap and sinks into my mattress beside me. At my insistence, we switched back to our rooms a couple of nights ago. I watch as he scrolls through his phone, his face looking weary. The video was stressing him out, and it was painful to watch. He throws the phone on the bed. "I have to go and address the leaders. They've been calling and texting me without ceasing, demanding answers. I have to think of ways to convince them that they're not aliens as the media has been calling them. "I scoot closer to him and hold his arm. "I know you'll be able to do this; you're a fixer."He rubs the heel of his hand into his closed left eye. I don't k
KAYDEN'S POVLeaders are trained from birth to follow certain high standards when they lose their temper; like holding their tongues in check or stopping themselves from making one rude comment towards any particular leader. This is the first time in my life that I would be experiencing a revolt from leaders. Their loud voices were bouncing off the stone walls as each one of them raised their voices higher than the other. I could barely make out what any one of them was saying as they all spoke in different languages. They searched around with their eyes trying to discern if this was the home of the demigods, their body language and flying arms demanding answers. My entire Order is down here save for Dominic who's an absence I cannot account for and Jonas, who is now the enemy. The Order was attempting its best to calm the leaders down, all to no avail. We were below the Council, my Order was against the plan but I felt i
Kayden's POVThree days later, I was standing in the same room waiting to speak to my father again, with Klaus at my side. I've already brought him up to speed on the proposal I made to our father. Despite agreeing with the fact that our sister would be brilliant in the role of Delta, he doesn't think the rest of the Order would agree with the decision. For about five minutes, we stand in silence and wait. awkward, tense silence."How have you been doing, brother?" I finally ask, breaking the silence, as I turn to look at Klaus. He straightens his back. I suppose I've been doing pretty well."I was talking concerning Tiffany. Nobody gets over something like that easily."He presses his lips together and looks away."You're my brother, so you can talk to me about anything. This time, his eyes met mine. "Why would I do that?""Stop being so uptight and impenetrable.""
JONAS' POV"Well, I need your help to figure that out. But, there are some things that I wanted to discuss with you first." Eva begins."Go ahead," I say."We both know Lisa's expired."My heart skips a beat at the mention of her name. Does she plan on using her as strike two? That was the original plan I had with Lisa before she betrayed me by joining the Council. Instead of sitting up, I sank deeper into the couch. "What about her?""Does the Prime Alpha know she's expired?"I nod my head. "He does.""And he allowed her to live. That's interesting. Of all the people I expected to keep her alive, he was the last person I would have expected. Tell me, when did he start taking an interest in her?"I think back to that night, the night I returned to the Council. I was nervous about her going to the estate for fear of her safety. But most importantly, I was scared that she would find
JONAS' POVI watch her walk away before I reenter the room and mumble an apology for wasting time. John studies the map before he looks up at me. "When are we going to do this?"I reclaim my spot between Eva and Abraham. It felt weird having two rebels who have tried to kill me in the past on either side of me. But, for some reason, I felt relaxed and at home. Throughout the time I've spent here, I've spotted a few rebels that aren't from this country. It made me wonder if other nations were sponsoring the rebels or if the soldiers were joining voluntarily. The rebel movement is bigger than I had ever imagined."I was thinking we should attack as soon as we're ready; there isn't any time to waste."Abraham asks John. "How many of us are going to battle?""I haven't decided yet, but we can't put all our eggs in one basket.""No one would like to be left behind. The whole camp has been buzzing ev
JONAS' POVThe training room is larger than I expected it to be. A group of about fifty men and women were spared. Each one of them has a partner and they were all practicing the different moves simultaneously. Eva claps her hands together and lets out a sharp whistle. All fights end abruptly, and ragged breathing takes its place."Jonas Blackwater, who is now one of us has accepted my wish for him to take you guys through a few training lessons. He trained with the Council, so he would fight like them. "All eyes were on me now, waiting for me to speak."Seeing as we came upon the while they were sparing, why don't you t
KLAUS' POVTiffany, I think the order is cracking. Every time we meet, we grow further apart. Jonas' betrayal was something we never expected in a million lifetimes. It hit us right at the heart, harder than our pride would ever let us admit. We're just sitting around waiting for his next strike. We know he'll be planning on attacking the estate soon because he always hated it here. We're already prepared for his strike. Without my father here to advise us, it has been hard on Kayden. The rest of the former order has been offering their endless help as we try to decide what we should do. We constantly have senate meetings, sometimes as much as three times a day.
