11~ Compensation

I found myself stumbling through a thick forest. My feet bare as they stepped on leaves and twigs, snapping them in half. Cuts and blood now graced the soles of my feet from stepping on the rough ground and stones.

Where was I?

I looked around, not recognizing the area. Did the City have such forests? Never heard of them…I glanced down at my disheveled state, my clothes tattered and covered in blood.

What happened?

I kept stumbling forward but strangely, despite my appearance, I felt no pain.

Then I heard it.. the heavy stomping on the ground, coming in my direction. A shiver ran down my spine and I broke into a run on instinct.

I looked back and saw dogs, or was it wolves? Chasing after me. It's normal since I was in a forest, but were they supposed to be that big? Most of them stood at three-foot or four.

My heart banged hard in my chest... I could feel it in my throat. My legs felt like they were made of lead. Why couldn't I run faster?
