Now, I understood.

Kayla wanted me to take control of the mansion before I began to take my revenge on Beatrice. It sounded quite interesting. It dawned on me that Kayla never meant to disregard me. All she wanted to tell me was that I should strive to be the Luna of the Pack.

I smiled.

“You are very cunning, Kayla,” I told her slowly. “I have no doubts about you for now and I think this is the best choice which Alpha Quinn could have made for me.”

“Thank you, my lady,” Kayla told me slowly. “I am glad that you find me relevant and up to task.”

“I didn't say you were up to task…” I told her simply. “You are sly and cunning and this isn't always a good characteristic. If you want to be appreciated for this, you will have to channel it to a way which would benefit me.”

Kayla smiled back at me. I could sense fulfilment there and I knew she must have been waiting for me to say this for a long time.

“Your wish was my order, is my order, and would always be my order…”
