Book One Epilogue (2)

Cameron POV

“Alpha, we found this,” Jackson stood up from his computer excitedly, running over to me where I sat on a blood-soaked bed at the corner of the room. He didn’t even flinch seeing my newest victim lying dead beside me. This one had the same lips as Chloe, but they tasted like salt and copper. Not like the honeyed floral taste of Chloe’s. Nothing about her was the same, and halfway through I couldn’t stand it any longer. I had to silence her voice permanently to get some enjoyment out of the pathetic creature.

I jerked the warm, freshly printed papers from my gamma’s hand, rubbing my temples furiously from my endless headache. I haven’t been able to get rid of it for days, and now it feels like something is tearing away inside of me. Rome has all but disappeared, and I have been left to deal with this shit on my own.
