Chapter 42

I woke up to Doctor Simmons standing over me and my mate looking down at me with deep concern. I asked, “So how are my x-rays doctor?” He replied, “I was just telling the Beta that your ribs are healed, mostly. Enough that you could go home if you can keep from doing anything strenuous and not pick up anything over five pounds.” I asked, “Five pounds? That will not be easy, but I can do that. I’m sure my mate will be watching over me to make sure I don’t.” Joshua was sitting next to me, nodding to the doctor. Doctor Simmons laughed, “Okay, let’s go ahead and discharge you to home then. I’m sure you will have plenty of help in everything you need to do.” Josh smiled, “She will. Thanks.”

With another promise to the doctor to keep my five-pound weight restriction in mind with everything I do, I was able to walk out of the hospital. When we got to the pack house, I was greeted by tons of pack members with well wishes. I was approached by a little girl, “Hi Co-Beta. Are you feeling okay?”
