Chapter Fifty Eight

The door creaked open, and there stood Josh, his eyes reflecting a mix of relief and concern. The atmosphere was heavy with unspoken emotions as we locked eyes.

I knew I must have looked like a mess; my eyes were sore from crying. As soon as I got home, I locked myself in my room and let my tears flow freely. The thought of Josh being with someone else was unbearable.

Without giving me a chance to speak, he started expressing his feelings, "Harper, I want you to understand that what happened with Chloe was completely unexpected. I didn't reciprocate the kiss; it caught me off guard. I would never willingly jeopardize what we share."
