Chapter 8

Nathan

My eyes are fixed on my phone, my lips spreading into a smile. I drop the phone and twirl around in my chair, my smile growing bigger.

The door opens and my secretary walks in, her eyes glistening with smiles as she sees me playing around with my chair.

“Oh, I didn't see you there.” I chided, putting a stop to the nuisance.

“You seem to be in a very good mood, sir. Is it something I can share?” She jokes and I wave it off.

“Is it time?” I ask, taking a look at my wrist watch. She nods and I stand up, heading out with her.

We rounded a few corners before getting to the car park, I entered the car and she did the same. The driver pulled into the road and the drive began.

My eyes are glued to my phone as if expecting a call from someone. A part of me is hoping she would at least call to thank me or ask questions about what she's getting herself into.

But none came in.

I drop my phone in exasperation, sighing as I adjusted my tie.
