Twenty eight

Steph and Alex walked quietly into the burial ground where his dad was being buried. He was in a black suit and Steph was in a black gown which she had complimented with a black hat.

Alex’s mum had arrived earlier and was there before they arrived. They walked over to were Alex’s mum was and Steph had held onto Alex’s hand. Mostly to show him that she was there with him to support him and also it just felt so nice to her.

“Hey, mum,” Alex said, after they got to where his mum was.

His mum also had a black gown on. Most people there wore similar things.

His mum pulled him in for a hug, she knew even though he was trying to be strong, he still had a soft spot for the man. She knew it and even though she wished he had reached out to him before he passed, there was nothing she could do to help him.

“Hello,” Steph said to Alex’s mum.

“Hey,” she said back. Steph still didn’t know how to be with her. They have never had a conversation together and when they met they always only said “hello
