Twenty three

Steph heard a knock on her door, while she brushed her hair by the mirror in her room. She dropped the comb and walked up to the door. She wondered who it might be but figured that it was probably Lucy just trying to tell her breakfast was ready.

Steph opened the door and she was met with Alex in front of it.

“Hey,” She said.

“How are you feeling now? Hope you’re much better?” He asked. Steph didn’t want him to care, to be so concerned about her. She wished things were the way they were before.

“I am fine,” she responded.

“Alright, just thought to check up on you,” he said.

“Hope you ain’t going to work today? I can call them up for you if you want.”

“That won’t be necessary,” Steph said.

“Alright then, take care of yourself dear,” he said.

Why was he using dear for her, she thought. Was she the one reading meanings to everything he did now or was he just different.
