The Pressure

Daniel smiled warmly but did not say a word. His emotions were like a person who knew himself how to drink water, an outsider would not be able to help him.

Not far away, Daniel’s son ran towards them across the lawn. Daniel stood up and carried the child in his arms. "You should go to sleep.”

"Good night, Third Uncle." The little one spoke in a childish voice.

"Good night." When Blake looked at the child, his gaze was gentle yet also carried a trace of bitterness. It was also unknown when he and Avery would be able to have their own children.

On the same pitch-black and tranquil night, Avery and Jake sat in the study room and conversed with each other. After Blake left, pressure came from all directions. Even their father's work had met with resistance.

"Dad, I'm sorry, it was my willfulness that made it difficult for you." Avery lowered her gaze, her small face slightly pale. Her cold fingertips gripped the burning tea cup.
