Avery nestled in her father's embrace and silently nodded. She had never had the heart to hurt anyone, but all this was cruel to her.

She forced herself to hold back her tears and washed them away the tears in the washroom. When she walked into Blake’s room, she had already changed into a jolly appearance.

"Dad just came. He left because he had something urgent to do." Avery sat down on the side of his bed and started peeling an orange.

"What did Dad say?" Blake’s gaze instantly fell on her small face that was lowered.

She forced out a smile, and joked, "Father said that if you bully me again, he won't forgive you."

The corner of Blake’s lips slanted indistinctly as he pulled her into his embrace and asked, "What kind of bullying?"

Avery swung her fist and hung it on his chest, not light nor heavy. Then, she buried her face in his embrace, bit on her lips, and endured the tears that were about to come out.
