James and I mingled as we sipped our champagne. Well, he mostly mingled, and I looked over pretty people in pretty clothes. I was finding out things about celebrities that I hadn’t known before. And while I couldn’t see Kai early in the night, I did see Eric and Daniella. And I avoided them.
When I saw his rumored girlfriend, I was in two minds. She was stunning. And although I had no idea if it was a designer dress or not, she was not less conspicuous than the A-list celebrities attending. However, I was a little relieved that she was having pre-dinner drinks. It meant that she was not here as Kai’s date and just came on the invitation.
Aria had been right. It was fun and James was a critique when it came to the clothes everyone wore. It was hilarious.

I did look okay, though a little flushed. The ballroom was only half full when I arrived. I made my way back to the table and found a drunk James waiting for me. As he buried his head in my neck once again, I heard him moan my name into my skin. We stayed tightly around one other as we drifted away, allowing our bodies to recover. “You are incredible, Rose.” I hummed in content, not able to formulate words. The buzzing in my ears muffled pit the sound around me, so I just reveled in the pleasure of having the man around me. As we floated, I thought about my name. I wondered if Kai believed Rosalind was my real name. I wasn’t sure. He hadn’t asked me, so I could imagine, that at this point, he really did think that was my name. But I had told him the first night that it wasn’t my real name. So, having him call me Rose was bothering me a little. Whatever it was we had, it was far beyond our original agreement. He deserved a little more, didn’t he? We got out of the pool and grabbed two large towels. Once he was dry, he laid back on one, propping his head on his elbow and rolling over to his side.
