Eve's POV 

I picked up my bags, all four of them: the three that Tom had thrown out and the one I had packed for myself and walked out through the gates. I could feel the heavy gaze of the security guard on my face as he opened the gates and let me through.  

Embarrassment burned on my face, making me feel every inch like a miserable person.  

And wasn't I really? 

I had just gotten thrown out of the house by my husband who did not care about me or about anyone except himself. A man I had trusted for ten years, who still hid my father's death from me and went to extreme lengths to make sure I could never see my mother.
