A new home

Vanessa's POV

“Don’t you worry, Mom, I’ll be fine.” I gave her a small smile. “This is just for work, remember? I’ll be visiting you from time to time.”

She glanced at the huge black car in front of the apartment building, and the driver loading my stuff into the trunk. I was not really taking a lot of things, just some of my clothes and other personal items I didn’t want to leave behind.

Everything would be provided for me.

Even a change of wardrobe. But I still wanted my own stuff, so the guilt of deceiving Rodri Darnell would not be even more compounded than it already was.

“And, don’t worry about dad coming back. I got security cameras installed in front of our apartment, so anytime someone’s at the door, you can just check the camera feed from inside to know who it is. If it’s him again, don’t open the door and just call the cops, okay?” I said to her, in a worried tone.

I was scared to the bones when she told me Dad came to the apartment.
