Chapter Seventeen

As their meal progressed, Lucas pondered the manner in which he would deliver his spontaneous inquiry, his nerves on edge at the possibility of Emma's response. Yet, as he observed her relishing each flavorful bite, he knew there was no better moment to pose his burning question.

"Would you care to join me for a sightseeing excursion tomorrow?" Lucas inquired, turning to gauge Emma's reaction.

Emma, who had been on the verge of taking a sip of her juice, halted and directed her attention towards him. "Tomorrow? But won't you be working?" she questioned, finally taking a long and satisfying sip.

Lucas nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, "As the CEO, I have the freedom to work at any time I choose. Besides, it's Saturday tomorrow. What better way to spend the weekend than by going out and exploring?" he posited confidently.

Emma couldn't help but agree with his logic. It had been far too long since she had enjoyed a day out, with no time to spend with Trevor or even for herself. She ha
