Chapter 3

I carefully sat on the seat opposite to the CEO. I don't know how to interact, since I'm also insecure with my actions. I'm worried that he might dislike me because of that.

"How old are you now, Miss Esquivel?" He suddenly asked. I'm not touching anything on the table yet.

"I'm 27 years old, sir." I answered politely.

"You're young. How old were you when you got married?" He's eating and seemingly unbothered while asking.

"I was 23 incoming 24 when I got married." This feels awkward, really.

"How do you define marriage? Did you marry your husband because you were in love with him?" I don't know if this is still a work related topic that we must discuss, but...

"Sadly, I didn't marry for love." I smiled, and for some reason, I feel like I want to open up. "So, I can't really define the essence of marriage without love as its core value." Yet, I end up stopping myself from serving the first summary of my life.

He's still a stranger even if he's entitled as my boss.

I want to know why he asked about it. Is he married too? Probably, in a relationship. Although, it's his privacy I cannot touch.

After that question, he never asked me again. He became silent 'till we finished eating. And I was left wondering why...

I just hope I did not offend him with my answer.

"Thank you for the treat, Sir." I said, right after I keep everything clean on the dining table.

"Hmm." He just hummed as an answer while he's busy with his laptop. He might be back at work since he was so focused on what he's doing.

I bow down as respect before leaving and returning to my station. I sighed in relief after the pressure I got when interacting with the Boss. It's indeed hard to maintain body posture, facial expression and even adjust yourself according the person's expectation.

I mean, I did it myself and he didn't told me to do so. It was just my insecurities that told me.

*Ring*Ring*

I snapped back to the reality and immediately answered the call.

"Good noon. This is Casa Grande's CEO office, how may I help you?" I catered the caller's purpose and write his intention for placing a schedule to meet with the Boss.

"I would like to invite him on a dinner." My arrow arched by itself after hearing the client's concern.

Is this even valid for the CEO to meet? As far as I know, the CEO's time is very important and every meetings should be important as well, or else it will be wasted.

But, do I have the right to reject when the client is applying for a schedule to meet the boss?

Ha... Whatever.

Maybe I should consult him about that later and have his approval before giving this girl an answer.

"Hang on for a second." I keep the client on hold as I dialed the CEO's landline.

"Hello, Sir."

"What is it, Miss Esquivel?" Even his voice on the phone is cold as an ice. Is he in a bad mood or is he like that?

"Sorry for the disturbing you, I just want to ask if you're available to see a client on a dinner who is placing a schedule of your time by next week?"

"No, reject it. I don't cater clients who wished for a nonsense intimate time with me, and please do not accept any schedule relevant to this one. I don't want to hear a concern like that again." As expected, it gives him a bad impression.

It's still a good decision to ask him about that, or else I will be doomed in the future.

"Will keep that in mind, Sir. I'm sorry, again." The call with the Boss has ended and I get back to the client.

"Hi, Miss Chen. I apologize, but the Boss isn't available and has no time to meet you. I hope you will under--"

"Bitch, you're useless!" She yelled, followed by an end call tone.

It shocked me, but I guessed I have to get used to this since this will be part of my work.

I can't blame those women who wished for a private time with the CEO, he's indeed gorgeous and powerful. Women would surely crawl to him without doing anything.

"Hi, Miss New Secretary." A guy suddenly approached my desk. He's tall, and has good features. The way he dressed is like he's going out for something casual and not appropriate for work.

And he seems playful. A dangerous playboy. I could tell because of the way he interact and the he uses his tone.

"Hi." I stood up, and smiled professionally.

I don't know this guy, but that doesn't mean I won't respect him. He's in the company, so he must be one of the employees here. Perhaps, clothes doesn't really matter. If it's his fashion, then so be it.

He did not disobey any rules afterall.

"Is today your first day?" He lean on my desk and placed the folders he brought.

"Yes,"

"I see. What is your name, by the way?"

Surprisingly, I didn't feel uncomfortable talking to him, maybe, looks and actions can never judge the person's inner flaws.

"I'm Rain. May I also know your name?" There's nothing wrong asking his name right? He also asked for my name, so I wanna know his name too.

This guy might probably be my first friend here and it's a pleasure to acquire a friend in my first day at work.

"I'm Aiden Ledesma."

My eyes widened upon knowing his family name.

So... He's not just a freaking employee, but he's one of my boss!

"Oh my goodness... Uhm, I should've treat you more nicely... I didn't know--"

I heard him chuckled and pat my head lightly with the files he took from the desk. "Don't be anxious, Rain. It was fine and you treat me nicely enough. You don't have to give me special treatment, just because I'm one of your Boss. Perhaps, I like everyone treating me casually. I'm not my brother, you know."

I'm relieved.

"Then... Can I address you casually?"

He's a Freeman. He smiles a lot and a happy person. Totally different from his brother, Sir Uriel is silent, strict and moody. And I'm uncomfortable with his nature.

"I will call you by your name too, is it okay?"

I laughed heartily, "Of course. It's not something you should ask anymore, you know."

"Haha. I know. I just want to be sure."

Suddenly, someone from the intercomm talked that made me almsot jump in shocked.

"Miss Esquivel. I need the files that my brother give. Bring them inside the office."

When I look back to Aiden, he just shrugged. "She's coming, bro." And was the one who answered his brother before I.

I never heard from Mr. Uriel in the intercomm after hearing from his brother.

"Please understand my brother, he has emotional issues."

"Fvck off, Aiden. Get back to work!" Mr Uriel's thundering voice made me jumped in extreme shocked. Because I thought he was not the line anymore, but he did!

Aiden just laughed at his brother before excusing himself. I took the files that Aiden delivered and took them inside the CEO's office.

The moment I entered his office, his sharp gaze caught me.

I'm doomed. Is he mad?
