Chapter 21

POV: Monte

He heard the two women talking inside the room. He carried Ericka's cellphone, but overheard the older woman asking for it, so he went back, pretending to have just woken up. The older woman knocked on the door. He promptly opened it.

"Yes, Nay, good morning," he greeted with a smile.

"It seems my ward had a good morning," the older woman remarked. "Young master, I'll just get the young lady's cellphone."

"Allow me to get it. I also have something to ask," he said.

"Alright, young master, I'll prepare lunch," the older woman left.

As he stepped out, he wanted to know if she really had a crush on him. When he knocked and opened the door, he couldn't hold back his feelings. However, he felt hesitant to ask, fearing she might think he's nosy or presumptuous.

As he exited the young lady's room, he leaned against the wall, his heart pounding loudly. He couldn't understand why he was feeling so nervous. The anxiety was overwhelming.
