He watched as his wife walked away with his grandfather. He couldn't quite fathom what their relationship status was, but all he knew was that it mattered to him.

He noticed his grandfather looking at him, smiling.

"Why?" he asked.

"What's the state of your relationship?" his grandfather inquired.

"We're okay, why?" he replied.

His grandfather sighed, "I know she's not your girlfriend."

He was shocked. Dealing with his grandfather was always challenging. The old man was adept at figuring people out.

Nervous, he asked himself, how did he find out? Did Ericka confess? Questions only his grandfather could answer.

"How did I find out?" he cut in. "I'm old. I know whether there's a relationship or not."
