Chapter 1: My twin sister is ill

Sophia and Selena are identical twin from a poor home, Sophia use to be calm and simple, Selena was always acting smart, they both grew up in New York City, they mother Roseline Clinton took care of them alone till they grew up, their father died long time ago and life heave been hard for them, they had to move to Los Angeles few years ago when their mum got a job in one of the middle class companies, she lost her job and then started selling in the road side to train Sophia and Selena to high school level, Sophia and Selena and Sophia are always doing menial jobs just to help their mother until one day Selena fell sick and sue was rushed to the hospital, the doctor said Selena is suffering from Leukemia and money is needed urgently to save her but since they don’t have the money, the hospital has decided to discharge them back home.

It’s was on a Tuesday morning, Roseline had already went for her road side business leaving Sophia and Selena home. Selena is laid on the bed and she is weak already, staring at her make Sophia sad each day, she was emotional and her eyes was filled tears, she was beside her on the bed in their small room and she see her twin sister dying because they are not financially stable, Selena cleaned Sophia tears.

“ Why are you crying Sophia? It’s as if I am dying tomorrow” Selena says and Sophia shut her up.

“ Stop saying that Selena, I can feel your pain right now and seeing in this condition hurts me a lot” Sophia says crying deeply and can’t control her emotions anymore.

“ Stop crying Sophia, you should go to work, even though I know that if you save all your salary for the whole year, it won’t treat me, mum is just a road side seller and sometimes, the business does move” Selena says and Sophia gets more emotional and Selena clean her tears.

“ Stop crying Sophia, you are getting late for work already do you should leave now”Selena says.

“ How can I go when seeing my twin sister in this condition?” She ask and she was in tears.

“ Just stop it Sophia, just go to work now, you know how your boss can be. She is so cruel” Selena says and Sophia took her back.

“ You should take care of yourself” Sophia says and Selena says.

“ Sure, I will” Selena says and Sophia left the house but was in pain seeing herself leaned down because of her sickness, tears fell from her eyes.

“ Oh lord! Please help. I don’t want to die. My sister and mother are suffering so much and working hard because of me” Selena says and she could not control her emotions.

After some minutes, Sophia got to the house where she works as a maid and she met with her boss, Mrs Amy, Sophia was already nervous because she knew that her boss is going to yell at her for coming late to work, her boss was already upset when she saw her, Sophia stood in from her of her where Mrs Amy seated on the sofa chair.

“ Good morning ma’am” she says and her boss stood up from the sofa and she yells at her for coming late to work.

“ What’s the time? You are late again. It’s been weeks that you have been coming late to work and I am always pardoning you but I don’t think I can pardon you anymore” her says yell sing in anger.

“ I am sorry ma’am, it was not my wish to come late to work, I told you about my twin sister current condition, she is been sick and we need money to take care of her” Sophia says emotionally.

“ Listen Sophia, I am sick and tired of hearing the same story each time you come late to work, I can see you do not need money to treat your sister and that is why you came late to work, I am sorry Sophia but it’s time you quote this job, it’s seems your service is no more needed in this house anymore” her boss says and that cane as shocked to her and tears fell from her eyes and she tried to beg her boss.

“ Please, don’t fire me, I really do need this job to save some money for my twin sister” she says in tears and her boss yells at her.

“ I am sorry Sophia but the decision is final because I have already replace you with another person” her boss says and Sophia was hurt.

“ Is that so?” She ask and she become more emotional and her boss gave a little cash in a envelope from the salary for the job she has done in the month, Sophia walked out of the house with tears in her eyes, she was walking ok the road in a deep thought and a car was about to hit her and she move way, she continues her journey, she stop a taxi and she entered the taxi that will take her back home and few minutes later, she got back home, Selena heard that someone entered the house and she thought it was her mother because she was not expecting Sophia.

“ Mum! Is that you?” Selena ask and Sophia entered their small room and she drop her bag and Selena was surprised to see her back home earlier and she was crying.

“ Sophia! What are you doing back home?” Selena ask and Sophia went close to her to the bed.

“Sophia! Tell me what is going on? You know hate seeing you in tears because it always break my heart” Selena says and Sophia stare at her.

“ I was fired” Sophia replies because she was heartbroken already, Selena was shocked.

“ But why?” Selena ask.

“ My boss said that I have been coming to work late for weeks now and sue has had enough of this nonsense, she said that she will not be needing my services anymore, the worse part is that sue said that she already employed another person to do my job since I can’t, I tried to beg her but she said no, I am feeling so guilty right now” Sophia says and Selena clean her tears.

“ Stop crying Sophia, forget about that your silly boss, I swear when I have fully recovered, I will see her personally and insult her for making my twin sister crying, I hate nonsense” Selena says and Sophia stare at her.

“ You do not need to feel guilty Sophia, you were not the one who put me in this situation, it’s no one fault and I can see how you and mum had try so hard to gather the money to get e treated but I think God wants me back” Selena says teas fell from her eyes and Sophia get more emotional and she cried.

“ No, don’t ever says that Selena, you will be fine, I promise and I will do anything to get you back on your feet” Sophia says and they both hug.

It’s already in evening, and Sophia help Selena walk to their small leaving room and she help sit on the couch, Sophia went to their small kitchen and she made a juice and dinner, their mother Roseline entered the house, Sophia and Selena saw her and they smile.

“ Mum! “ Sophia says and their mum seated beside Selena on the couch and Sophia serve her mum and Selena juice, her mum was surprised to see Sophia back home earlier.

“ Sophia! Why are you back home so early? Did you boss told you come back home early?” Her mum ask, Selena and Sophia stare at each other.

“ Mum! There is no need for her to back there” Selena says and her mother wonders what had happened.

“ Why won’t she go back there?” Her mum ask.

“ I was fired by my boss today” Sophia replies and her mum was sad.

“ Mum! I do not want you to think about this or worry your self to much, I want to speak with Olivia, my friend so she can help me get another job” Sophia says.

“ Why is all this happening to us?” Her mum ask and she was emotional and she wanted sue was crying.

“ Since when I lost my job, no one wants to employ me, I think I have fail as a mother and that is why Selena is suffering from a sickness” their mum says and she felt guilty, Sophia and Selena went close to their mum and they cleans her tears.

“ None of this is your fault mum. I guess, it’s just happened or maybe the lord is testing our patients, please just stop crying mother” Selena says and their mother still feel guilty and she cried.

“ I have failed as a mother, if not I should have notice that there was something wrong and it won’t have gotten to this state” their mum says.

“ Mother please non of this your fault and you have not fail as a mother, everything happened for a purpose, I have a feelings that everything will be fine soon, let’s have hope and faith mum, or have you lost your faith, we should all have faith on the lord, it’s breaks my heart whenever I see you cry like this mum” Sophia says and Selena was coughing hard and Sophia and their mother try to bring her water but the cough continues, Selena fell on the floor and she fainted.

“ Selena! Selena!”Their mum and Sophia called her name but she did not open her eyes, they rushed her to the hospital.
