Jacoben withdrew his hands from her shoulders and shrugged.

“It's okay. You can go home. We can go on with our Plan B. Even though that is nearly impossible, we have to try without you," he said as if making her feel guilty. "Warn your family and hide until this is over. I told you that I won't force you, so I—"

"I will do it!" She exhaled sharply and then raised her forehead. Her gaze challenged Jacoben's. "I was caught off guard. This was so sudden, so I got nervous, but I was not running away to hide.
