Chapter 31

Katie's POV

We left the restaurant, and Alex's friend hugged us tightly, thanking us for believing in her. As we walked towards our car, I could see the worry etched on Alex's face.

"Are you okay?" I asked, slipping my hand into his.

"I'm fine," he said, but his grip on my hand tightened. "I just can't believe someone would do something like this. It's despicable."

"I know," I said, feeling a shiver run down my spine. "But we'll get to the bottom of it. We always do."

Alex nodded, but I could tell that he was deep in thought. I knew he wouldn't rest until he had uncovered the truth and brought those responsible to justice.

The days that followed were filled with meetings, investigations, and a lot of stress. But we worked together, tirelessly pursuing every lead and following every clue.
