Once back at the cabin, I carried my cubmate inside first. I placed her on the bed next to the father monster. Gale was at her side, looking worried, in a matter of seconds.
The prince I laid on the bear rug. It was the worst type of item in this cabin but it looked like the softest place. Gale hurried over to check on him.
“I think your lady friend is going to be alright, Dragon Rider. She just had an awful fright.” I didn’t bother asking her how she knew but I trusted her medicine.
She kneeled next to the prince. When she began examining him for the cause of his condition, she pulled back clothing to reveal the keeper’s bite. Gale looked up at me with those pretty bright blue eyes.

I have lived in the walls of this giant prison ever since I was able to escape the Ogre that used to beat me every day. I was with the Ogre since before I could remember. As I ran from him, I heard his monstrous threats but I was faster than him. I dared not return for he would hit me again. When I escaped, I found the openings in the walls.
