Chapter 26

We attacked with dragon fire again and again until I completely lost track of time. Saple and I had two sets of senses to rely on. We each had our own thoughts to process and evaluate the fight and we were able to understand each other without having to take the time to express it.

It made us quicker. 

“Your years hiding in the shadows and avoiding humans has kept you sharp and alert, little one.” Saple complimented me. We had pulled back to regroup again and were considering how much work there was to do.

As the keeper shrunk, it got faster. Together we were still twice as fast as the creature. But at this rate, we were going to need to fight all night and I could already feel the fatigue weighing on Saple.
