Sixty one

Bernard watched as Nolan's secretary exited the elevator and approached him. He leaned back, expecting the secretary to inform him that Nolan was waiting for him somewhere and wanted him to accompany him. However, his hopes were dashed when the secretary opened his mouth and spoke plainly.

"Master Nolan wants you out of his company," Nolan's secretary said, looking directly at Bernard.

The soft smile on Bernard's face gradually faded away. "What do you mean? Does he know it's me, his father-in-law?" Bernard questioned, and the young man nodded lightly.

Bernard knew Nolan disliked him for some reason, but he never imagined that Nolan would reject his visitation. Anger covered his expression as he thought about how Nolan had the audacity to be so rude and disrespectful, considering that Bernard was much older and his father-in-law. However, Nolan was five times richer and more powerful than the entire Lincoln family combined, and this realization only fueled Bernard's anger.
