Chapter Fifty

Kane sighed tiredly when they finally made it to his ranch. He sped down the gravel drive and slammed on the breaks as soon as he pulled up in front of his cabin. He opened his door, sprinting around to the passenger side and threw open her door. He gathered her up in his arms and marched up the stairs. He unlocked the door and ran inside, careful not to bump into anything. He carried her upstairs to his room and laid her down on his bed. He didn’t waste time as he quickly removed her shoes and clothes before he slipped one of his t-shirts over head.

Sweat covered her body and a small whimper escaped her lips. By now she was starting to lose consciousness as her eyes began to droop. She was still panting but not nearly as bad as before. Kane went to the adjoining bathroom and grabbed a washcloth. He wet it with cold water and wrung it out before coming back to the room sitting next to her on the bed.
