29. The royal council

Blaine and I walked towards the west wing, where the court existed. It is where the Rroyal council members would meet to discuss various situations. Like alliances, pacts, economic status, marriages, laws. I had always loved being a part of the council meetings. It made me learn what was going on outside the walls of the palace, and I always thought I knew enough.

But sadly, I knew nothing. When Vera told my mom about how it was so hard to survive outside the castle, it was like a punch. I wanted more for Draconià, and I would do it. Before that, I had another mess to take care of. My stubborn brother, who was ready to throw it all out for someone who wasn’t even his mate.

“I don’t want this for you, Blaine.”

“I am happy you are finally happy with Vera, but... that is not for me,” Blaine said with a stubborn press of his lips. His eyes flashed in defiance. I knew he was a grownup, but sometimes, I still felt like he was my little brother.
