Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, but there was no word from the man who had promised to deliver Liam's letter to Logan, his Beta. Liam was consumed with worry, fearing the worst for the man who had risked his life to deliver the message. Liam spent every day waiting by the entrance to the Pack, hoping to see the man return. But he never did.

Liam couldn't help but think that the man had been caught and thrown in prison, or worse, killed. The waiting was agonizing, and Liam couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened. He couldn't even bring himself to tell Penelope what was going on, afraid that he might endanger her as well.

Liam's anxiety grew. He barely slept or ate, consumed with worry for the man who had helped him. He tried to distract himself with reading, but even that lost its appeal after a while.

Liam couldn't stop thinking about what would happen if they were discovered. His father had the best trackers and they could trace Penelope
