Out in the Desert (Conclusion)

Alpha Sloan is glaring at the soldiers who have intruded in their festival. Damien climbs down his horse and approaches the Alpha. He does not bow but looks straight at the man in an authoritative manner.

“We are here to catch some criminals who are hiding in your midst,” Damien states. “We can smell their scent here.”

“I can assure you that we are not hiding any criminals!” Sloan claims.

Behind him, his whole clan starts to gather. Talia is worried for her mate while the pack members are ready to fight if needed. The soldiers or Faika always treated nomad clans badly as if they were rogues. Many nomads were killed or tortured while the female were whisked away and sold off for money. They deeply distrust the empire and will not tolerate their Alpha’s insult.

“If you want us to spare you, step aside,” Damien orders. “We are looking for a dual eyed man and a blind woman! They must be hiding here. Step aside otherwise we will not be merciful.”
