One Hundred and Seven.

Sitting at the top of the stairs with Connor on my lap, I could hear the entire conversation between Aiden and Leighton.

Every now and then, I would hear a little cry from the pup that they are calling my son. The cry did nothing, I felt absolutely nothing for him.

When everything goes quiet, I get ready to move when Aiden appears at the bottom of the stairs carrying the pup.

Connor calls out to him, holding his little arms out for Aiden, but Aiden’s grey eyes are on me. “You were listening,” he mutters.

I nod, yet there was nothing for me to say. He was making decisions for me without talking to me first.

“I’ve named him.” He smiles at me

“I heard.”

“Do you approve?”

My eyes move to the pup who is now sleeping in his arms. “I don’t disapprove,” I murmur, "Everyone should have a name."

He continues to watch me. “Katie will find a way to fix this.”

“So you keep saying.”

“You’re mad that she wants to help?”

“I don’t know what I feel anymore.”
