The Alpha heads back to the house, cradling his pup as Bella walks a few steps behind him. She wasn’t happy about the pup at all. But to not even be willing to hold him, that was something I didn’t see coming.

Back inside the house, Katie is sitting on the floor in the middle of the lounge, raiding her mothers medicine bag. Her face still caked in black mascara stains as her eyes go back and forth, reading the letter, while pulling more vials out the bag.

“I can do this. The Alpha has faith in me.” Her words are not really aimed at anyone in particular, more like she was trying to spur herself on.

“Katie, you don’t need to do this if you don’t feel you can. I’m sure we can find another way.”

Her beautiful sea green eyes flash up to me. “The Alpha asked me. He believes in me. And mum left her medicine bag behind. She never goes anywhere without it. She wants me to do this too.”

“Please, just listen to me.”
