Three days have passed by like three years… I realized waking up on the fourth morning after his death. I opened the iPad followed by the website where I had to type in,

‘New day. I…’ Dammit! Nathan, I can’t write without you. I used to do it when you weren’t there but now, I can’t even think. Helena started to cry reminding me that she needed her milk. I had taken leave from the office and Mrs. V was okay with it. Pouring the milk into the bottle, I dragged myself to her room. “Hey baby.”

Giving her a small smile, I placed the bottle in her tiny hands and helped her feed herself. “Mama... ma.” My fingers stopped moving and I stopped fidgeting in my place. I know I recently started considering myself her mother but I didn’t expect her first word to be that and in reference to me.
