Chapter 28

Athena's POV

As soon as I walked into the courtroom, I could feel his eyes on me. I wanted to look at him because of how my wolf was acting, but I didn't. At last, all those hours of practice had paid off.

I talked, laughed, smiled, and made jokes, but I never once looked at him. We hadn't seen him in a long time, and my wolf was dying to sneak a peek, but I completely resisted the urge. I could do it better now. I just had to remind my wolf of how he had treated me the last time we were together.

I had forgiven him, because holding a grudge for so long would have been pointless, but I had promised myself that I would never forget what he had done to me. I had learned to use it as motivation instead of spending all day crying about it, like I did when I was a puppy. I'm glad those days are over, and I'm glad I've grown up and learned from them, but he seemed stuck in the past.
