Chapter 38

Adolf almost ran restlessly while carrying me bridal style just to follow Stoic's crew after hearing the news.

I pray fervently for Stoic and Frode. I can't help but worry for their condition. I hit Adolf's chest several times to make him run faster.

“Adolf! Faster!”

I heard his jaw tighten and his speed doubled. He had already passed Stoic's crew and was leading the race. After a few minutes, Adolf suddenly stopped running and thick smoke greeted us because of his braking.

I swallowed a few times as I waited for our view to clear. It didn't take long for the smoke to disappear and what opened up to us made my heart almost fall to the floor.

“I-is everyone okay?” one of Stoic’s men asked while helping the other men who’s lying on the ground, almost unconscious.

My fists clenched as I looked around. While many enemies had fallen earlier, there were several of Stoic's men bloodied and wounded lying on the floor.
