Chapter 49: The Task; Stubborn Mate

"Ahh… my leg hurts," I whined in pain as the nurse rubbed an ointment on my sore legs. I held onto Asher who patted my back constantly telling me that is going to be fine.

"You'll be fine very soon," the nurse said, and I breathed out in relief.

"Thank you. How many minutes would it take my legs to heal?" I asked, and she stared at me in disbelief. Maybe she was surprised by my question. But what's wrong with it?

"I don't know about that. The doctor would come himself so he's going to tell you," she said, and I shook my head with a sigh.

I feel she's lying but I didn't force it. She knew something about my condition but didn't want to tell me.

She bandaged my legs, took the pieces of used cotton wool, and crashed them in the waste bin at the corner of the ward.

"I'll take my leave," she said with a bow and walked away.

"How are you feeling?" I turned to Asher, who stared at me with a surprised look on his face.

"Better," I said even though my legs were burning with excru
