28. Date Night Pt. 2
"Damian?" I gasped, not believing what I was seeing.
"Yes?" He replied smugly.
"Why are we heading towards a helicopter?"
"You sure do ask a lot of questions. I thought you said you wanted me to surprise you." Damian smirked.
He spun me around then, letting my feet touch the ground. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face from the rush. Once on the ground, I reached up onto my tiptoes and kissed him.
Damian smiled into our kiss.
"Does that mean you like it?"
"Well, I can't say for certain. All you've done is show me a helicopter. Can't say I'm all that impressed." I said, shrugging my shoulders, faking boredom.
Damian looked at me with an all-knowing expression. He smiled then grabbed my hand as we both ran towards the helicopter.
"I guess I better get on with the next part of this date then." He said, kissing my nose once more.

...Damian POV...I couldn't believe what was happening right now. One moment, everything was ok. The next, everything seemed to go to complete hell. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience right now. I was too stunned to realize what was really happening. The woman that had single-handedly changed my life was now being held at gunpoint. I desperately wanted to get her out of there, but I couldn't figure out how. I had hoped that by stalling, the police would have enough time to get there. So while I listened to what was going on, I texted Zach and Zane to let them know what was happening. I was driving myself insane. After we got to the hospital, the doctors rushed her into surgery. I had to look away from her at one point. She had been shot four times. Once on her arm, one in her leg, in her shoulder, and another near her heart. It was the bullet near her heart we were all worried about. There was no exit wound, which meant the bullet was still inside her. Not only that but because of using the AED, there was a good chance the bullet may have shifted, causing her internal bleeding. The medical team had managed to revive her. However, she hadn't actually woken up yet. After I dropped Jessica off at her place, I had to make a few phone calls. I wanted to arrange a meal service for Jessica. It was the least I could do. I didn't want her to either skip meals or have to worry about making them. I wanted to try and help her as much as I could. ...Damian POV...Nearly two weeks have gone past since the incident. I haven't left her side once. I was thankful for my brother, as he managed to upgrade her room, including providing her with a queen-sized mattress. Zane also had a laptop sent over so that I could work from here. Then, in the evening, I would sleep next to her, placing her head gently on my chest. I would talk to her throughout the day in hopes that she would get better. Her injuries had begun to heal, but still, there was no sign of her waking up. The doctors had told me that her body healing was a good sign.
