Chapter 4

I stared critically at the young boy who shared the exact reaction on my face, stun. How unlikely was it, that I'd run into another one of my mates at my engagement party?!

There wasn't enough time for me to recover from the shock of finding my mate, because Silvia suddenly ran towards us and wrapped her arms around him!

"Kian! You made it!" She squealed in glee, letting everyone inside the hall know that this kid was both her brother and my mate.

How fucked up could life get?

"Mate?" He echoed, finally recovering from the shock of finding his first ever mate.

Silvia disengaged the hug and stared at both of us, with pure wide eyed shock, still processing what was occuring. "You...you two are mates?" She fumbled, pointing at her brother then at me.

I was just about to open my mouth and deny everything, when my father and Silvia's parents rushed into the scene, at the sound of the M word.

"Is...is it true Kian? Is your sister's fiancee really your mate?" Mrs Saint interrogated, grabbing the confused boy by the shoulder, vigorously shaking him from side to side.

'I don't like that.' Ralph said, for the first time ever, expressing his disgust towards the treatment of our mate.

In the past, Ralph would, like any other wolf desire to physically be with his mate, but in his case, things ended after a run through the woods and a nice banging till the sun set.

But not in this case, not with this mate...

'Son is this true? Is your brother in law your mate?' Father asked for clarification, through the mind link, trying to prevent a huge scandal from taking place.

I heaved a heavy sigh and relaxed my shoulders, everything was a huge mess and things would only escalate if I allow this drag on. With not much choice, I reached out and grabbed the boy by the wrist.

'Warm.' Ralph noted, speaking for the both of us.

"I'm sorry to inform you all, but the engagement ceremony has been cancelled. Thank you for coming, and enjoy the rest of your evening." My loud voice announced, reaching all corners of the hall.

Using everyone's confusing to my advantage, I waltzed past both families and stormed out of the hall, with the young boy following behind. I couldn't tell whether or not he was putting up a real struggle or mildly resisting.

He wasn't strong enough to hurt a fly, and felt as light as a feather, I was scared that my massive hands might break his delicate wrist.

I pulled him along with me till we arrived at the not so crowded parking lot, where we could find time and talk.

"Sorry about that, but there seems to be a misunderstanding here." I said and released his wrist, noticing the red mark I had created.

He didn't say a word to me but instead used his eyes to observe my entire body from head to toe, drinking in my features.

"You see, I don't believe in having the moon goddess pick my life partner for me, so you can just forget that I was your mate." I frankly told him, parting some knowledge to this naive little pup.

An awkward silence followed suite, I had expected him to say something back, but he merely stared at me. If I hadn't heard him say the M word a while back, I might have believed he was mute.

"Frankly speaking, I'm not into this whole commitment thing, and I'm guessing you're not up for it either. You must have your entire life ahead of you..."

"So does that mean you intend to marry my sister with no intention of commiting to your marriage?" He sharply inserted into the conversation, his piercing blue eyes carried an icy cold aura about.

"It wouldn't be much of a marriage, but more of a business meager, an alliance between both our packs." I delicately tried to explain to the boy, before he ran off with those crazy thoughts in his head.

He folded his arms across his chest and glared hard at me, "so it's safe to assume you wish to make my sister your Luna in name alone? Tell me, brother in law, are you planning to sleep around after marriage?"

There was something spiteful about the way he used the term in law, it kindled a new type of anger I hadn't experienced before.

"Or are you taking advantage of the fact she hasn't found her mate yet? Is that what you're playing at?" He asked without fumbling not even once.

'Put this kid in his place' Ralph attempted to shift right into our wolf, right in the parking lot. And teach the young boy a lesson he might never forget.

"Listen here kid, don't get the wrong idea, I'm not interested at all in marrying Silvia. If it weren't for my father's intervention, I'd rather stay single for the rest of my life!" I spat out, hoping to set things straight with the kid.

"Now, give me the ring." I ordered and stretched out my hand, not willing to stand here and argue with an immature child.

He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out the gold band which had the letter A inscribed on it. I took it off him and slid it down my finger, careful not to lose it again.

"If you truly have no intention of taking my sister seriously, then I'd advice you to call off the marriage right this instant. That is, if you don't want me to make sure every single pack hears about your mate." The punk threatened, prodding at my chest with his index finger.

I seized his finger and took a closer look at his face, he looked very much like Silvia, but he had a more refined touch to his features. I could feel my body get hot by just wrapping my palm around his index finger.

"Are you threatening me, kid? I'll have you know I don't play with children." I told him, taking large steps towards him till he was backed up against a shiny black car.

"Mate or not, I get a real kick out of punishing disobedient little pups like you." I told him, caging him in-between both my hands, my lips lifted into a devilish smirk, at all the ways I could teach this kid a lesson.

"I'll have YOU know mister Alpha, that I'm not backed into a corner easily." He retorted sharply, staring right back into my eyes, holding his own against me.

This kid... he's dangerous!
