Conan's declaration

I covered my face with my hands, my darting right and left across the crowd as eyes began to turn my way.

The several guests of honor, all of whom were Alphas, also turned their gazes my way, staring at me with unconcealed interest in their eyes.

Conan continued speaking, oblivious to the tension and whispers. He had moved away from talking about me, and had started talking about the pack.

I glared at him before retreating and walking out of the venue as fast as my heeled sandals could take me.

As I walked out, I heard someone calling my name.

"Jade! Hey, Jade. Wait up!"

My heart in my throat, I looked back to see a handsome blonde man striding towards me, a creepy grin on his face.

I looked around the parking lot, but it was deserted as music blared out loudly from the festival site.

He jogged over to me and stood in front of me, breathing slightly heavily.

"Hi," he finally said.

I grabbed on to my bag strap tighter as I eyed him warily.

"Hi," I responded.

He ran his smarmy gaz
