The Party

"Come now darling, let's get you ready." Alice says, as she walks by me, going the opposite way that Xavier went. Quickly, I followed her, catching up to her.

"Where's Uncle John been all day?" I ask her, as we are walking down the hallway, passing the kitchen. All the maids rushing around.

"He's been getting everything ready tonight for Xavier. Since the whole thing with Riftan, Xavier has been on edge, so John told him that he'd get everything set up for tonight."

"He doesn't seem to be on edge." I say, a little surprised by what she said.

"That's because he won't show it in front of you, he's always been that way with you since you two were young. He doesn't want you to worry about him." she says looking at me

"Well, he's going to have to learn to live with me always being worried about him." I sigh

"Are you worried about tonight at all?" Alice asks me as we approach a door.
