They sit there on the couch in silence for a while. Eventually though Serena notices that Sergio is starting to nod off again. So, she stands up slowly and helps him off the couch and leads him to his bedroom. Once he’s settled on his bed she climbs onto the bed behind him and wraps her arms around him tightly.Sergio lets out a content sigh and rolls over slightly to face her. “I love you, Serena.” He tells her.“I love you too.” She responds happily.Sergio presses his forehead against hers. “Goodnight.” He mutters tiredly.“Goodnight.” She says back softly. She lays there for a while, holding onto Sergio’s body as tightly as she can and feeling the rise and fall of his chest underneath her palms. He’s warm, she decides. It feels nice. Safe. She thinks about the conversation they had earlier and about what it all means. She knows what she wants; what she needs. Now she just has to figure out whether or not she believes in it. She remembers reading somewhere that faith isn’t easy
“Well, it’s kind of stupid, really.” He admits.Serena frowns a bit. “No, no it’s not. Tell me.”“Promise you won’t laugh?” He asks.“I promise.” She assures him.He swallows thickly. “Alright. Well, I… I wanted to ask you this morning…” He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes for a brief moment, preparing himself for whatever he’s about to say next. Then he continues. “But I chickened out, and didn’t actually do it. But now that I think about it, I should have done it anyway. I should have told you sooner. I should have told you ages ago. Or maybe I should have said it yesterday.” He lets out a heavy sigh, looking down again at the ground.“Sergio? What are you talking about?” Serena prods.Sergio looks up at her and meets her eyes again. “You remember the day that we met?” He asks her.Serena nods her head.“Do you remember what happened afterwards?”She thinks back to that day. She vaguely recalls hearing her mother call her name as she ran away from home and running down the s
She groans tiredly and stands up. “Alright, alright. I’m sorry. I’ll try to get up earlier.”“Are you okay?” He asks her worriedly.“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little light headed still.”He frowns and pulls her over to the bed, sitting her down beside him. He runs his fingers through her hair soothingly, massaging her scalp. “You really shouldn’t push yourself so much. I’m sure you’ll end up getting sick.”“I will, but I won’t stay sick forever.” She tells him honestly. He pauses and lets out a small chuckle. “Good. Then we can go somewhere nice and comfortable tomorrow.”“Okay.” She nods. She wraps her arms around his waist and rests her head against his chest. “Love you.”“I love you too. Now get some rest.” He says as he hugs her back. “You’re not allowed to fall asleep on me again. I don’t care what anyone else has to say about it.” He says, referring to their friends.“I promise.” She says.“Goodnight, Serena.”“Goodnight, Sergio.” She closes her eyes as she falls asleep.Sergio wa
“Why would you rather stay with me than going to your family?” He asks curiously.Serena frowns. “Because…because I care about you so much! I don’t want you feeling alone. I don’t want you feeling scared or lonely! I don’t want you to feel sad because of me! Don’t you get it? I don’t want you to feel that way.” She explains, taking hold of his hands tightly.“If I feel that way then why do you stay with me anyway?” He questions softly. Her eyes widen slightly and she blinks rapidly several times. “I...I….” She trails off.“Don’t answer that. I guess I already knew the answer.” He mumbles.“No, I’m serious. You…you make me happy.” She says in barely above a whisper. Her voice is quiet and filled with emotion. She bites her lower lip nervously as she averts her gaze.Sergio smiles fondly and brushes her hair behind her ear. “And you make me happy too, Serena.” He says, resting his forehead against hers. She laughs softly. “Okay, well, that’s good enough.” She says, leaning her head aga
She gives him a smile and sits down at the table next to him. He starts handing her the pasta and she picks up a fork and starts eating. "So, what's our theme tonight?" He asks, picking up his own plate. She shrugs. "I don't know. Why don't you pick one out?" She suggests. "I have no idea what the theme is!" Sergio exclaims incredulously. "We haven't picked one yet.""That's weird…" Serena says. "Why wouldn't we choose something?"Sergio shakes his head. "We've never done this sort of thing before. Plus, we don't even know what our theme is for school either!" He argues."Yeah, well, we'll figure it out." She says, shrugging her shoulders again. He frowns. "Serena.""What?" She asks innocently."Are you okay?" He asks carefully."Of course, why wouldn't I be?" She questions."Because whenever something happens, you usually snap at me. Usually." He points out."Okay, I'm sorry." She sighs, leaning forward on the table. "I'm just nervous about new life and everything."He hums in u
Sergio wakes up to the soft buzzing of his phone. He groans quietly as he reaches for it, unlocking it and glancing at the screen to find out who's calling."Hello?" He answers cautiously."Sergio?" A feminine voice responds."Yes, hello?" He responds, trying to mask the confusion in his voice."It's Serena." She says timidly."Right...hi…" Sergio says apprehensively. He can hear her breathing heavily on the other line and feels a pang of guilt in his chest. He's been avoiding talking to her since they had lunch together on Friday and he knows she's probably wondering why he hasn't contacted her since. "Listen, about last week… I didn't mean to yell at you, okay? I'm sorry." He apologizes earnestly."It's okay… It was my fault." She replies quietly."No, it wasn't. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take my frustrations out on you." Sergio reiterates.Serena stays silent for a few moments. "I don't want this to become some type of routine. I don't like fighting with you." She confesses."Ne
Serena looks up from her plate of food and meets her sister's gaze. "Hm?""Did you say something?""No, I didn't. Why? Did you want something else?""Nah, I was just asking if you liked your pizza." She says nonchalantly."Yes, of course. It's delicious."Lately, I had a weird dreams abou mysterious handsome man." Claire blurts out without warning and Serena almost chokes on her pizza."Excuse me?" She coughs."I don't know. I thought it was strange at first but I kinda forgot about it. I mean, I don't usually have those kind of dreams. Not even once." She says.Serena stares at her, dumbfounded. Her jaw drops. "Wait…you dreamed of me?" She asks incredulously."Maybe. Who knows?" Claire replies with an amused smile.Serena furrows her brows. "What about? Why would you dream of me?"Aria shrugs her shoulders. "Dunno. Must have been my imagination. But seriously though, why would you think that I'd dream of you?" She asks in confusion.Serena frowns. "What do you mean why would I think
When she gets there, she takes another step forward. And another step. And another. Until eventually, she reaches the basement. She walks over to the couch where the box she found is lying on. She grabs it and walks to the entrance of the house, shutting the door behind her.As she reaches the top of the driveway, she stops walking, staring at the street ahead of her. Her hand is gripping tightly onto the box containing the necklace which is now resting in the palm of her left hand. She hesitates for a brief second. Should she really do it? What if it does get worse? She decides to take a risk. She places the box down gently on one of the chairs in the garage before opening it up. Once it is open, she pulls out the necklace carefully, careful not to drop the box.Once she has it in her hands, she looks down at it. It looks exactly the same as it did the day she found it. Same design and color, same small charm hanging on its chain. She remembers that fateful day so clearly. She rememb
